Maxim Iglinskiy Wins 2010 Montepaschi Strade Bianche

A race great, everyone at the maximum. The 2010 Montepaschi Strade Bianchi road race went to Maxim Iglinskiy (Astana) of Kazakhstan. Iglinsky, last year's winner Swede Thomas Lovqvist, Australian Michael Rogers and Canadian Ryder Hesjedal escaped with 6km to go. They were joined at the top of the last climb by Filippo Pozzato and Francesco Ginanni.

In the last km befvore the finish in Piazza del Campo, Siena, Iglinskiy was first into the final sharp right-hand corner before the dive down to the finish.

The Strade Bianche is all about bravery, as riders' bike skills and nerve are tested during every moment of the 190km race. 113 riders started the race in Gaiole in Chianti, home to the start and finish of the amateur "L'Eroica" held the first Sunday in October. Only 65 finished today, spread over 13 minutes. Some professionals used a 39x27 to get over the steep pitches of the course.
